About Me
My name is Ryan Maxwell. I am a castle graduate, and I graduated from The University of Southern Indiana with a Bachelors’ degree in Mathematics in December of 2025. I tutored for 2 and a half years at USI in Math, Physics, and occasionally economics.
I found a surprising amount of success tutoring and generalized many lessons I had learned teaching myself my own course material. I was able to adapt techniques I had developed for myself into generalized methods for helping other students, and for diagnosing what students require what interventions.
Some people just need to chug practice problems with spaced repetition until they can solve them automatically, developing understanding only after developing the requisite skill.
My Approach
Some people are just stuck on something and need a quick explanation or a little mathematical trick. This is why I offer the first hour consultation for free; some students just need a quick explanation or to be pointed toward useful resources.
Likewise, some students need more directed attention, especially if they’re confused on current material because they’re confused about past material they haven’t mastered, and that gives me time to find the deficiencies causing their problems and make a plan for helping them get where they want to be.
